Beginning Botany for Permaculturists

1 Day Workshop

Learn about the plant kingdom from a professional botanist. We will learn and practice identifying plants by their leaf patterns, flowers and fruits. We will focus on plants and plant families that are important to permaculturists for food, medicine, nutrient accumulators, supporting pollinators and other uses. We will also identify some invasive plants that can overtake and smother your garden, and useful natives and yard weeds. Classroom time will be interspersed with time spent walking around in the garden.

Understanding the patterns of plants can greatly aid permaculturists be more successful in their gardens and their design work. It can accelerate your progress in learning about new plants and help you understand the ecosystem of your food forest more deeply.
