A Taste of Permabliss Event Series

 

Grow Permaculture delivers 5 Intro to Permaculture & Gardening Classes over 5 Saturdays (for adults),

then Be Leaf Family Co-Op delivers 5 Family Friendly Events & Classes over 5 Sundays (for all).

 

Saturday July 7th, 9:30am-12:30pm, a 3 hour Intro to Permaculture (repeated on Sep 29th.)

Do you want to know more about permaculture, how it works, and why? We'll cover permaculture gardening techniques, food forests, community building and alternative energy, all at Our Permaculture Farm. In Class Instruction and Hands On Learning taught by Founder of Grow permaculture Koreen Brennan and by our in-house technology expert Steve Szmidt.

Sunday July 8th, 9:30am-12:30pm, Family Permablitz Event (Hands on Farm Learning.

Community building and hands on learning experience for adults and children! Can include: seed panting, feeding plants, planting trees, etc! Fun with Koreen Brennan (Founder Grow Permaculture & Lori Anne Mayor (Founder Be leaf Family Co-Op)

Saturday July 28th, 9:30am-12:30pm, Introduction to Composting & Vermicomposting.

In this beginner's composting class, we will learn how to compost. What should and should not add to your compost and what type of compost system is best for  you. You will see how compost should look, feel and smell in various stages, and what to do when it is ready. Bonus  We will learn about the benefits of vermicomposting - composting with worms. It is easier than you think! Taught by Grow Permaculture PDC (Permaculture Design Course) Graduates Stephanie Koeser (from Pineapple Acres) and Amanda Streets (from Pinellas Community Composting Coalition).

Sunday July 29th, 9:30am-12:30pm, Intro to Composting & Vermicomposting Family Activity.

Squirmy Wormies! The kids will learn about composting through play. They will each paint and build their own worm tube. Composting can be something the whole family takes part in and understands. Fun with Grow Permaculture PDC Graduates Stephanie Koeser (from Pineapple Acres) and Amanda Streets (from Pinellas Community Composting Coalition).

Saturday August 18th, 9:30am-12:30pm, Introduction to No Till Gardening,

Come see how easy creating a garden is with no till gardening. Gardening does not have to be physically exhausting to produce an abundance of vegetables and fruit. With a bit of planning, you can create a garden that helps build a healthy soil, prevent erosion and retain soil moisture. Taught by Grow Permaculture PDC Graduate Stephanie Koeser (from Pineapple Acres).

Sunday August 19th, 9:30am-12:30pm, No Till Gardening Family Activity.

Let's get the kids in the garden! Learn how fun and easy planting in a no till garden can be for children and adults. Discover the miracles of growing with less work! Fun with Grow Permaculture PDC Graduate Stephanie Koeser (from Pineapple Acres).

Saturday September 1st, 9:30am-12:30pm, Kitchen to Garden 101.

Gardening does not need to be expensive! You can experiment in the dirt with thing that are probably in your fridge right now. Discover how to turn kitchen scraps into gardening bounty! Taught by Grow Permaculture PDC Graduate Stephanie Koeser (from Pineapple Acres).

Sunday September 2nd, 9:30am-12:30pm, Kitchen to Garden 101 Family Activity.

Children thrive on experiments in the kitchen. Let's take it one step further and gather food from the kitchen and bring it into the garden to create an inexpensive and fun harvest! (Please bring cups or jars and any and all of these produce to participate in a fun children take-home experiment that can be planted in your annual garden: Pineapple, melon, tomato, dried beans, celery & potato, onion, zucchini, acorn squash, avocado & cucumber. Saturday & Sunday September 22nd through 23rd, 9:30am-, Plant propagation.

A Permabliss Weekend (with optional Camping and Cookout for $5). Weekend is co-hosted with Be Leaf Family Co-Op. All are welcome!

Learn simple techniques of propagating plants that grow well in Florida including vegetables, Asian greens and fruit trees. In this class we will stick to basics of propagating mulberry, tomatoes, herbs, native plants and others with cuttings and from seed. Take home a plant from our site that you propagated! 

Permablitz (Hands on Farm Learning) and Farm Tour delivered by Grow Permaculture PDC (Permaculture Design Course) Graduates Stephanie Koeser (from Pineapple Acres) and Amanda Streets (from Pinellas Community Composting Coalition).

Kids Craft and On-Site Childcare (During adult Class Time).

Childrens Climbers and Outdoor Play Areas.

Fire Circle and or Movie Night (weather permitting.)
