Primitive Skills & Fire Knowledge

David Hogrefe, fireman, tracker, permaculturist, will share primitive skills with us on our longleaf pine and turkey oak sandhill. David fights fires but also starts them, in controlled burns throughout the region. He has an intimate knowledge of Florida ecosystems, including edible and useful plants, fire ecology, and tracking skills. He will take us on a journey through the wild areas of our farm, and show us how to protect our land from fire and understand the land from both a primitive skills and permaculture perspective. Observation and understanding of the land is key to being successful with permaculture and David will help us make that connection.
